Since Romania saw the end of Nicolae Ceaușescu’s dictatorship in 1989, the country’s precarious economic situation has forced many children to scrape a living on the streets of its cities, especially the capital. This is the story of the boys and girls who live in very harsh conditions in the sewers near Bucharest’s North Station. They are the Aurolacs, named after the brand of synthetic paint they are addicted to.
