Dear Steve turns its gaze on the omnipresent laptop computer. The film is a lyrical portrait of this iconic object, described by Luc Boltanski and Ève Chiapello as ‘the new alcohol of capitalism’. But the film is much more than that. It is also the literal autopsy of a MacBook Pro, dismantling the machine piece by piece, and at the same time a fierce critique of our submission to the computer, delivered through a letter-manifesto addressed to Steve Jobs, the head of Apple.
