Instantes de campaña

A personal portrait of Ecuadorian president Rafael Correa during the 42 days of the election campaign that led to his re-election in 2013 for a third consecutive term. The political agenda structures the telling of a story about contemporary ways of doing politics and how they are staged. The black-and-white photography creates a detached gaze on the irrational passion of a society that needs to believe in the figure of Correa. In the dead time of a packed daily schedule of interviews, shoots and rallies, the duality of being permanently exposed to the public comes through. We watch a charismatic figure in the waiting moments of a frantic election campaign.
