Official Selection What the Doc

En el Taller

A huge white circle under transformation. Filmmaker Ana Maria Salas portrays her father, Colombian painter Carlos Salas, while he works on a new painting in his studio in Bogota. Their close relationship unveils the invisible doubts behind the stages of creation of an artwork. The physical struggle with the canvas with a certain aggressiveness evokes the energy of the great painters. Through the filmmaker’s patient observation, we realize the influence of everyday banalities on her father’s work. Stories from the neighbours, radio sounds and the background noise from the street near the studio make up the collective imagination that father and daughter share.
