DocsBarcelona Pro Roadmap: Navigating the activities

DocsBarcelona Pro has become a premier destination for documentary professionals to network, pitch, and develop their projects.

Located in the European heart of the Mediterranean, it serves as a meeting point for the non-fiction industry of the region and beyond:
Over the last 28 years, it has also become a natural hub for the growth and development of European and Latin-American documentary industry.

At this point, you might be thinking about participating in DocsBarcelona Pro 2026, but where do I fit in?

Below is a guide to help you navigate the key activities and make the most out of your experience next May 9-14, 2026 at DocsBarcelona Pro.

1. Public Pitch

This is an opportunity for 12 curated documentary early-stage projects to be presented to a panel of
international commissioning editors, distributors, sales agents, and potential co-producers. This is the
flagship DocsBarcelona Pro event, and provides a crucial platform to secure funding, feedback, and
distribution deals. Each project receives insightful feedback, enhancing its chances of success.

2. Rough Cut Pitch

Up to 6 projects in the final stages of editing present their near-completed films to decision-makers for
final funding, feedback, and pre-sales. This stage is vital for gaining constructive criticism from experts,
which helps in fine-tuning the project before its release. It also opens up opportunities for securing
distribution and sales.

3. New Tech Pitch

For those at the intersection of reality and technology, the New Tech Pitch allows creators to present
innovative projects that incorporate new media technologies. This could include VR, AR or XR, but also
technologies such as AI, web3 or blockchain, aiming to attract tech-savvy investors and partners.

4. Speed Meetings

A highly efficient networking event where filmmakers and producers engage in quick, 15 minute
meetings with a variety of industry professionals. This is an excellent opportunity to introduce your project,
exchange business cards, and establish connections that could lead to future collaborations. Located in a
beautiful venue, it’s designed to maximize networking potential in a short amount of time.

5. Artistic Consultancies for Rough Cut Projects

If you are working on your documentary, but you feel the need of having a third opinion, or you feel lost
at any point, the Artistic Consultancies might help you. Those one-on-one sessions commissioned by Tue
Steen Muller with seasoned documentary professionals provide tailored feedback on various aspects of
your project, from narrative structure to visual style. This personalized guidance can help refine your
documentary to its highest potential.

6. Campus DocsBarcelona

The DocsBarcelona training program is designed for emerging filmmakers. Campus DocsBarcelona offers
two residencies over the year —during DocsBarcelona and September— with multiple workshops,
masterclasses, and mentorship from established industry figures. It’s a comprehensive learning
environment where new talents can acquire skills, insights, and inspiration from experienced professionals
in the field.

7. Producers Meetup

A networking event specifically for producers to discuss potential co-productions, share experiences, and
explore opportunities for collaboration. This meetup is crucial for building a supportive community of
documentary producers, fostering partnerships, and facilitating the exchange of ideas and resources. If
you are looking for a co-production partner, you don’t want to miss the Producers Meetup.
I know where my project fits best, what do I do know?
