After riding out a heavy storm in the middle of the Mediterranean, the cargo ship Stratis II put in at the port of Barcelona at the end of 2007. The plan was to deliver the cargo, repair the damage and carry on with the voyage. Neither the crew nor their captain, Mumtaz Ahmed, could have imagined that this would be the ship’s last journey and that they would all be abandoned to their fate in the Catalan port.
