In 1976 the diggers began laying the foundations of what was to be the largest tourist resort on the Iberian Peninsula. A group of young people took the initiative to halt works that were already under way. That was the beginning of the struggle that has made possible today’s Aiguamolls de l’Empordà Nature Reserve.
