In 1988, María Fernanda Restrepo’s brothers, Santiago, 17, and Andrés, 14, were kidnapped, tortured, murdered and disappeared by the Ecuadorian police. Their bodies were thrown into the Yambo lagoon and yet were never found. More than 20 years after their disappearance a new search was opened at Yambo, and with it María Fernanda’s personal rediscovery of this story from the past which, at the age of 10, she had only half lived. This documentary recovers the power of memory to keep them alive.
