Over the last six years, 60,000 people have been murdered in Mexico. In 2010 fourteen mayors were executed. In this context of extreme violence stands San Pedro, a town that prides itself on being one of the safest in the country and home to some of Mexico’s richest and most powerful families. The documentary tells the story of its mayor, Mauricio Fernández, a controversial figure unafraid to present himself as someone who takes justice into his own hands to ‘cleanse’ his municipality of the drug cartels.
