Shot in the Spanish town that for 2,000 years was home to the world’s most productive mercury mines, Pablo’s Winter is the story of a retired miner, a stubborn man who represents the last generation of miners in Almadén. Now, at seventy, Pablo spends most of his time in front of the television, surrounded by a cloud of tobacco smoke, firmly turning his back on a town that has seen better days. Through an honest depiction of everyday moments, the film explores the decline of the local mining culture, a tribute to its true protagonists.
