The record of an obsession, the passionate search for an anarchist gunman, Felipe Sandoval, alias ‘Doctor Muñiz’ (Madrid, 1886-1939). A bricklayer by trade, his life was bound to his faith in a redemptive dream: social revolution. For its sake he became first a famous robber and ‘man of action’ and then, during the war, a merciless killer. The narrator’s drive to investigate and follow his dark trail leads him to recover the many fragments of Sandoval’s memory, now scattered across archives and records. With these materials and a selection of old films and photographs, he attempts to reconstruct the course of his life.
